KenHeeZ

Hey everyone, this is ken's new blogsite. I've been a blogger since 2004, but stopped frequently here and there. My previous blog website was heez.net/kenhee. You can still check it out as it's still there, but its dead. I decided to use blogspot as its more time saving as i do not need to dwell into hours of html to make sure everything is coded correctly. Although i would miss designing the layout, but i guess i dont really have the time as i used to now. Well, enjoy your short stay here.

Protect my PC!

Have been playing basketball once every 3 days and also civilization iv multiplayer regularly these days. A civilization game can take about 10hours at least to complete, but it sure is hella satisfying. I'll do a little write up on the history of where me, eugene and seelin have played till.

For those people who have been thinking what antivirus should u use and not pay a single cent, look no further. I'm not gonna say AVG free, cos ever since u had to pay for it, it was like a landslide for the free version. Download Windows Security Essentials. Its simple and easy to use and takes up very little memory. Even when its scanning, i dont feel bogged down by it. Also, it has been rated has one of the best anti-virus out there!

Ok, now for some history writeup on our game. My civilization was the English empire, seelin being the Ottoman empire and eugene being the Kymer empire. We started off well on a continent, grabbing as much land as we could, but we werent alone on the continent. Germany, Spain and the Inca empires were with us on this same big piece of land. Naturally, war broke out as time came. Seelin was far out of reach of the enemy, but i was fighting a war at the frontlines. Spain was on the west of me, Germany on the south west and the Incas at the south east. I was practically fighting a war, which i had little chance to win, only to defend. Thankfully, eugene came to aid the war effort and seelin sent some troops to aid as well. They invaded Spain and their captial Madrid fell. I on the other hand, made a counter attack on the Incas and took most of its cities, leaving only 1 city standing. The tide of war had turned.

Being confident, we made plans to get Germany, so eugene went to hit directly at its capital, Berlin. He however failed and lost a bulk of his troops. By this time, we couldnt sustain a war much longer as my economy was starting to crumble and my citizens had grew tired of the war, making them unhappy. A cease fire was signed by both parties and the war stopped. We however demanded them to hand over precious technologies which we could use.

Time passed and the medivial age came, where knights ruled the earth. We declared war on them again and captured most of the remaining cities. My offense was quick, as i split up my forces into a two pronged attack. Taking down 2 cities at once and soon after, the war for me was over and i started to focus on my economy. Eugene however, faced a tough resistance at Berlin and Hamburg and so had lost many troops, but eventually, he took those cities down. Spain and Germany were left to fight us, while i had already wiped out the Inca civilization from the face of the Earth. Another cease fire was signed and peace reigned for 800 years.

I focused mainly on my economy after the war, with no intention of building up a sizeable army, since there was no real threat on the continent anymore. Stock Exchanges were built to increase my economy and after about 400 years, my economy was booming, at its peak. Knights were something of the old when gunpowder had came about in the world, but we still had no knowledge of gunpowder, as we didnt focus on war technologies, but rather technologies to boost our economies further.

In a swift and sudden change of events, Persia and his buddies declared war on us, on the other continent. It was sudden that i had to start drafting units to help defend my cities. They were using riflemens, while i was using longbowmen. It was like a Last Samurai, with knights fighting riflemens. Hard fought battle, but we managed to researched gunpowder and rifling and repelled the attacks with modern machine gunners and also the English Unique Unit, the Redcoat. Meanwhile, i was building up my fleet of ships to prepare for a counter offensive. By mid-war, i had a huge fleet, capable to ruling the seas and preventing any land attacks from landing. The English Royal Navy destroyed most of the frigates at sea and so, the coasts were clear and safe for fishing, whaling and oil rigs to function. Oil was an important resource now, as it was needed to power ships with steam power. We were now in the Industrial Age.

The industrial revolution brought about huge changes to our countries. Railways were built to make places very accessible. I could send reinforcements from London to Warwick almost instantly. By now, i was preparing transport for my troops to the other continent to launch an attack. Planes came into the picture with fighter jets and my first aircraft carrier was built. However, all these would mean nothing if i didnt have infantries. Air and sea power supports the war, but they cant win a war. However, in a sudden turn of events, a cease fire was signed and everything was suddenly peaceful. I took this opportunity to start amassing my army to prepare for any major war which i forsee to happen soon enough.

Eugene and Seelin by now were fighting a war on the west of the continent, while i was fighting a war on the east of the continent. We were sandwiched so to speak, but our forces always stood triumphant. The only worry now is a nuke attack and that would prove disastrous if one were to land on London, my captial city. We'll see how everything goes now, we still havent finished the game, but we'll see!

End of WoW, Start of Blog

I've decided to revive this dead blog, as i would be having lots of time after quitting wow yet again. Hopefully, it will be for good and if you're a friend of mine, do not ever tempt me back again. Anw, after quitting wow, i've been doing other stuff like playing civilization 4 with friends, in which is a blast. Civilization 4 is rated 10/10 in my book, as it has a ton of strategies to master and try and this wld prbly the only game which i feel really mean the following, "every game is different." If you're not a fan of turn base strategy games, then probably this game isnt for you, but trust me, playing with ur friends is a blast as u see how your own civilization withstand the test of time.

Moving on, kevin's birthday today, boxing day! Happy birthday and wait for my present to be shipped lol. I've been playing basketball once every 2-3 days. It was extremely tiring for me at first, but after lots of sessions, i got used to it. Basketball again later at 9.30am lol.

Alright, i've just finished playing Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves. I'll be writing a detailed review on it since its still fresh in my head. Uncharted 2 isnt really a sequel to Uncharted 1, as it has a brand new story to it, so if you're looking to pick it up, but afraid of being lost in the story, fret not. It isnt like MGS4, whereby if u didnt play the first 3 MGS, it totally doesnt make sense at all. That's probably the reason why i didnt like MGS 4.

Storyline : 9/10
The story of Uncharted 2 has many plot twists and you wont know the entire story until u have played till the very end. I particularly liked how the story was told from the start till the end, with flashbacks in between. The story is basically about the main protagonist finding the Marco Polo treasure. It later evolves into a complex storyline which left be playing for hours. In fact, i started playing the game in the morning and completed it at around 2am. I had a break in between where i watched a movie.

Graphics : 8/10
The graphics are ok. It isnt fantastic, but i aint complaining, since its running only at 720p, which is a little disappointing. The environments are nicely rendered, although characters sometimes look a little stiff. No complains though, as i feel pretty immersed in the environment.

Characters : 9/10
I loved how the characters were played out. My favorite character being Elane. Although she's bad at climbing and isnt as athletic as Chloe, she still tries to save Drake as much as she can. Well, i'm happy for her at the end of the game, just the ending which i wanted. The main character doesnt fall short too, being the typical smart guy, who has very high IQ, his able to solve almost any puzzle that comes in his way.

Gameplay : 8.5/10
At first, the gameplay was extremely fun and somewhat addictive, but as the game progresses, i cant help feeling that some things are really hard to pull off. Adding on to that, the later levels had some annoying bugs which made me lose my step and fall off. I would also like to add that i found the last boss lame and irritating.

On a different note, Uncharted 2 allows gamers to have different styles of gameplay. You can shoot everything in ur way, which would result in countless enemies, or u could stealth your way through. This takes alot of patience and the slightest mistake will trigger a horde of enemies coming for you. However, it is satisfying. I managed to stealth an entire chapter through, but it took me a heck alot of time retrying and waiting for the right time. It isnt like Metal Gear Solid, whereby enemies will think that u are gone or smth. Once an enemy spots you, there is no turning back.

Somehow or another, i find the game similar to Prince of Persia, with Drake scaling walls, shimmering along edges and swinging from rope to rope. He cant hug pillars or wall run though :p Some chapters, u will spend ur entire time running through these obstacles with little to no enemies in sight.

Most of the time, u will have a companion with u. They help you climb up places u cant reach and also assists you in gunfights, although i have come to realise that they are mere useless in gunfights and many a time, they spoil my stealth cover. Still, its better to have a companion to talk to you when u're on an adventure right?

Amidst the irritating bugs and gay NPCs sometimes, the gameplay is still very much enjoyable. Mixture of slow and fast gameplay.

Overall : 9/10
If you're looking for an action rpg, then pick up Uncharted 2. Its been a while since i finished an action rpg, the last one being Prince of Persia 2009. The magnificent storyline, coupled with good gameplay and funny dialogues makes this great game. I have not played multiplayer, so i cant comment on it, but i can assure u that this game would be fun!

achievements or friends

Its pretty saddening to hear things about friends from other friends. At this point in time, i'm not into rusted proto drakes, nor was i from the start. Well at least, help those guys that just need 1 more achievement to get it and that achievement isnt hard to get at all. Everyone is in the same guild for a common purpose, why go create all these ptless politics and then build up on them. I dont mind a single bit on missing out on rusted, but help those 2 ppl that really need and deserve it and stop acting like a bunch of selfish kids.

The guild has changed from what it once used to be. Helpful people filled the guild. Just say smth in guild chat that u need help on something, u'll get it. That was in the past, but now its like a totally different landscape. There are still a handful who will always be willing to help, but majority just do it IF there is a benefit to them. So IF leading a guild has a benefit, will there ppl leading guilds now?

What Aeras told me was right, the guild's different now. Yea, i can feel it, no longer the fun and helpful guild it used to be. Now, unless u do smth for me, i'm not gonna help u. Wow, since when did the guild ever had such a thing...

Double or Korean

All right, some ppl would know my desire to take korean elective nxt year and until now i still want to take it. My parents however do not wish i take it as it is viewed as not very useful in working society. I can take a double degree but that would mean my entire life in uni would be left with 0 electives. I'll have to do everything like a course structure, with no apparent choice of my own. I think u must get a D average to do a double degree, but srsly although that D average dont really pose a problem, its just not cut out for me at all.

Anw, i have various reasons on why i wanna take Korean and learn it as a language. Language takes years to master, unlike subjects u study every semester which just takes u 3 months. To be able to speak, write and read takes some years of practice and thats why i wanna start nxt year. Between korean n japanese, lots of ppl will definitely take japanese due to anime craze, but korean somehow interests me alot more. From many feedback, korean is indeed more difficult than japanese. Plus, i dun wanna take a language which many ppl know.

Well, i've made up my mind, i wanna study the korean language. Today was like a long day with 7hrs in sch. Networking tutorial was long and draggy and database was well, easy to a point that it really felt like programming. Conclusion : if u hate programming, dont take database...cos u'll find urself doing more programming. Got 90.5 for my database assignment :D

Came back and was so tired and just laze around doing nth much. Doing the remaining of my assignments tmr. Hopefully i get 1/2 of them done, so i can finish the rest by the end of nxt week. By then i would have all the time to study for the exams. 4 subjects and the one i hate most is Systems Analysis & Design. Srsly full of crap that really dont require much thought to do, just crap alot. I suppose its due to me cos i hate arts subject aka writing subjects.

Nana and kevin went to the post graduate library to like do nth lol. They just went there for fun. Prbly coming back at 12 or 1am.

만약에 (If)

Had a korean bbq mini party today. Ate lots of pork, which is as always good. Love every bit of it, haha...thanks kevin & nana :)

I went out in the morning today for breakfast alone, cos nana n kevin went to the doctor to draw blood for student visas. When i came back at 12, i realise i forgot my house keys -_-. So i just waited in the car till abt 3pm for them to come back. To add matters worst, i left my cell phone at home too lol, so i totally couldnt contact anyone and could only wait.

At around 5pm, nana and i went to get the stuff ready for the sum gyup sal(pork belly) party. Went to woolsworth, her house and then our favorite korean shop mirae mart to buy the stuff. The person at the store was saying how good her korean was even tho she wasnt a korean lol. Nana speaks korean flawlessly...if u know her for the first time n she starts speaking korean, u will definitely believe she's a korean.

Fetched some friends back home after the korean bbq, which was really great and the nxt time we would prbly have will only be after the exams :(

If i were to go

If i were to get close to you
What would you think?
I don’t have the courage.
If you were to go,
If you were to leave.
I don’t know how to send you away
It keeps hanging on my mind
I know i am a fool and can only watch you from afar
Your heart may look away from me…
And so we could even become strangers
Just like a fool i can’t even say that i love you because …
We’re afraid the wait that comes upon us
After we meet will be painful and sad.
If you were to come
To come near me.
What would i do ?
I really don’t know
Because im like a fool.
Even though i know looking is all i can do
Your heart may look away from me
And so we could even become strangers
Just like a fool i can’t even say that i love you because….
We’re afraid the wait that comes upon us
After we meet will be painful and sad
Because i’m like a fool
Even though i can’t say i love you
We’re afraid the wait that comes upon us
After we meet will be painful and sad.

Way back into Life

Been having a life these days, going out for movies in the city. Watched District 9 and GI.Joe, both of which i think are really great. District 9 would be the one of the nicest alien show i've watched, ranked after E.T and GI.Joe, well its cool and the kind of happy ending we all get, well sort of.

Ate at grill'd the day before, which was like Carl's Jr, but i think its a little bit better. The same concept with huge burgers that u gotta try hard to bite it for the first time.

Joe got fined at the city for parking in the taxi zone yst lol. $70. He didnt see the arrow pointing that it was a taxi zone and he just parked lol. Oh well. Anw, i'm gonna be more active these days and will be going out more often to the city prbly, just so i have a life and not coop myself up at home for 24/7 and only commuting between school and home which is like 5mins walk away.

Will also be trying to blog more and bring back the style of the posts i wrote way back then.
